Aloo ko Achar (Potato Pickle)

Introduction Aloo Achar (Potato Salad) - yumm! It's so delicious that whenever you think of it, you want to make it in order to fill your craving! Also, it is one of the dish that you have during festivals but again it's one of the staple dish when you think of having chuira (pronounced as "chyu-raa") or beaten rice. The recipe is same as that of Karela Achar (Bitterground Pickle) as listed in my last blog post. The only difference would be Cucumbers instead of Karela. Most people have their own way of making this dish. If you have carrots and radishes or Daikon, you can use them as well. If you do not have small Kerau, you can use frozen peas as well. In this case, I forgot to soak Small Kerau overnight, so have used frozen peas. Below is the recipe and I hope you will like it! Makes about 6 - 8 servings Aloo Achar Ingredients Needed Pickled/Baby Cucumbers - 3 Potatoes - 3 Chopped Red Onions - 1/4 cup Frozen Peas - 1/4 cup (thaw) L...

Introduction "Gundruk ko Jhol" is definitely one of my fave. Recently, at one of my friend's gathering, she had made yummy gundruk and hence its existence came upon on this blog as it has been a long time since I last posted one. Any recipes with gundruk just makes me go yumm...yes it is and I hope everyone especially who like Gundruk would feel the same. Also, I have heard that in villages or rural areas in Nepal, where lentils are scarce, they tend to have gundruk ko jhol with rice, and again, it is one of the comfort foods which has "gundruk" (dried greens) and soybeans. Introduction For people who have tons of Lapsi Candy titaura's available, you should try this recipe. I always longed for one until recently when my family was in town, they helped me make this so I could share with you. It's fairly easy to make. To give you a background as what this recipe is all about - it is made out of Lapsi (Nepali Hog Plum) fruit, which you can get most of the time only in Nepal. This fruit is seasonal as most other fruits are and are available only during the autum/winter season, but you can buy Lapsi Candy readily available in most of the stores in Nepal. You have "Paun" usually during huge feasts hosted by your family members and relatives back home. You have it at the end of the feast "bhoj", and is known to help with digestion as it has turmeric, the hog plum itself and black salt. Here is the recipe that you can follow and hope you will like it. If you do, please comment below so I can hear you! Makes about 5 servings ...
