Chatamari in the house

Chatamari - yes, it's just so yummy! It's made up of rice flour. Very easy to make - just need rice flour, oil and water to make the batter. Yes, it's that simple! Back home, my grandma used to make a lot of chatamari during our puja and I still remember I used to enjoy with aloo sadheko. I have listed out a recipe for you to enjoy and have a nice clip to show you how you can cook in a skillet. I hope you like it and enjoy yummy Chatamari!

Makes about 6 Chatamari

Ingredients Needed

  • Rice Flour - 1 cup
  • Vegetable Oil/ Olive Oil - 2 tsp
  • Water - 1 cup

Steps to follow

In a bowl, add the rice flour and vegetable or olive oil and mix well.
Add oil to the rice flour
Then add 1 cup of water to the mix using a hand mixer.
Mix it with a hand mixer
Once the consistency is similar to that of a pancake mix, let it stay in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, take out the mixture from the refrigerator. In the meantime, heat a cast-iron skillet on a medium heat. Add little oil on the skillet and spread all over. You just need to do this only once at the very beginning.
Heat the skillet and spread oil on it
You can use a measuring spoon (1/2 cup kind) to pour the batter on the skillet. Spread to make a circle as shown in the video below.
Pour the batter into the skillet
Place a lid on top of the batter in the skillet and cook for few minutes.
Put a lid on top of the batter
Once the batter is cooked, turn over.

Remove the cooked chatamari from the skillet.

You can serve chatamari with aloo sadheko or any pickle.
