Goat Meat Curry (Khasi Ko Masu)

Introduction

Literally, goat meat is one of the delicacies that most people love to eat other than chicken, I'm sure. Usually you get frozen ones but out here, we found a place where we can get fresh goat meat. It is little expensive but having to buy every once in a while doesn't hurt and it tastes great! Fresh is always better!

Anyways, during my recent trip to Nepal and after that time period, I have ate goat meat curry more than any other year. Luckily, I had a chance to eat how my mom cooks, and she cooks awesome! Also, during one of these times, I considered Deepa didi's advice using a slow cooker. It was one of the great advice I have received so far that works even great if you own one and have some time to cook since it usually takes about 3-4 hours to cook. And, if you would like the recipe using a slow cooker, let me know, and I can post the recipe for that. It cooks just right. But, if you own a pressure cooker, this recipe is for you.

Makes about 6-8 servings

On a medium heat, heat vegetable oil in a pressure cooker.
Heat oil
Add 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
Add Cumin Seeds
When the cumin seeds turn dark in color, add onions.
Add onions
When the onions turn golden brown in color, add goat meat.
Add goat meat
Add salt to taste and cook for few minutes on high heat. When you add salt, it helps to blend together with the meat rather than adding it later. Works great with any type of meat you would like to cook.

After about 2-3 minutes, add freshly minced ginger/garlic paste.
Add Ginger/Garlic paste
Mix it well and let it cook for few minutes until it's blended well enough.

Then add freshly ground cumin seeds, coriander powder and chili powder to taste.
Add spices to taste
When the spices start to blend together with the goat meat, add chopped tomatoes and mix well.
Add Tomatoes
Cook for few minutes stirring occasionally.
Mixture after spices blend with tomatoes
You can now add water and close the lid.
Add water
Return to the medium heat and let it cook for 15-17 minutes. This may vary depending on the type of meat you get from the store.

Turn off the heat.
